Through my masters degree coursework at UGA, I learned about instructional models and how essential they are when designing eLearning material.

I consider myself a skilled designer and excellent developer. I love to learn new things, and adding the learning and instructional theory underpinning to my developer skills through our studies in these courses has helped me enormously. I already had good design and development skills, but my masters degree helped me flesh that out with the other parts of the ADDIE equation: Analysis, Implementation and Evaluation.

My personal philosophy about online learning is to always exercise empathy. It is too easy to think, “Well, the Next button is right there…I don’t know why you got confused.” You must be able to put yourself in the shoes of the learner and see why they might have been uncertain and use universal design concepts to ensure everyone is able to learn what you’re teaching.
